Felted scarf update

I'm sorry for not posting, but I had a little one sick with the flu...yuck!!  Luckily, we are all better and getting back into our groove.  So, for me that means finishing up projects.  Here is the blue scarf that I felted with the flat marbles.  I washed the sweater twice and thought that would be enough to felt it because the weight of the sweater was light.  Half of my marbles fell off, but luckily I had put the sweater in a mesh bag, so the marbles were contained.  Overall, I like the texture of the sweater and the randomness of the baubles.  After I started to cut it into a scarf-like shape, it started to roll up on the edges.  I don't care for the raw-edge roll, so I need

to add something....I purchased some lace hem tape today in hopes of achieving the look I am going for.

It bums me out when I have the look of the finished project in my head, but I can't seem to whip it out in real life.  I will keep trying until I'm frustrated enough to let it go!

Milk glass obsession

It started out with this sweet little vase that I found while thrifting at the Salvation Army.  I brought it home and tried to find the perfect spot for it, but to no avail, it went directly into a cabinet for future use.  That is the story of my life, I buy something, bring it home, only to find that it doesn't "go" with anything else I have.  What's a girl to do???  She buys accompanying pieces...all thrifted of course from various locations.  Here's what I have so far.  Not a great picture, but you get the idea.  Now I have a little collection to display somewhere.

Thrifted sweater redo

What do you get when you have a thrifted wool sweater, flat marbles and your childrens elastic pony holders?  Hopefully, a really cool textured piece of wool that can then be turned into a scarflet.  I can't believe how long it has taken me to tie these marbles into my sweater, but it will be worth it once I see the end product.

I got the idea from an article on Craftstylish.  I have felted sweaters in the washing machine before, but not using this method of adding texture.  Here's what the sweater looks like so far.  I'm placing the flat marbles randomly under the sweater to create

the bauble like texture.  I have spent $6.00 dollars in supplies for this project, so if it doesn't turn out the way I had invisioned, it won't be a total loss.

After dropping my youngest off at preschool, I hope to put the finishing touches on the sweater and throw it into the washer.  Stay tuned!

Christmas crafting

Christmas seems to be right around the corner and this year I've decided to make my girls a real advent calendar. Of course they still want me to buy them the "chocolate" one, but I felt like we needed something a little more substantial and handmade. I was browsing through The Feathered Nest and saw her adorable felt embroidered squares that will come together as an advent calendar. She was inspired by this one from Pottery Barn. I think that this idea is adorable and I know it is something I can put together. I have finished a total of 11 squares, with some input from the girls. Here are a few. I'm still learning how to upload and move my photos around. I'm frustrated at the moment, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know what I'm doing yet

I'm finally starting my own artsy-crafty-motherhood blog. For years I have been reading stalking other like-minded blogs, while having my own blog in my head for no one to see. Weird, I know, but I think I would be more inspired to finish my projects by sharing it with you all.
I am completely clueless on how this blog thing works. So until I have done some major research, my blog will look pretty generic. Hopefully it won't be as boring as it looks.
I just figured out how to edit my post, now it's time to move on and upload pics. This is a work in progress mind you.
